How to Not Be the First Person to Drag You Down

Going over one of my handwritten journals from March 2014, I picked out some important lessons which I believe we all need to keep in mind and to always apply and practise. We may have learned them already at certain points in our past, but we need to constantly take care to mindfully practise them as much as we can, lest we fall back into old patterns or have to deal with the same issues over and over again.

1. Be careful of whom you surround yourself with. You become a reflection of the kind of people you associate yourself with.

2. Enjoy the present moment - do not jump to imagined future scenarios nor read too much into the good parts. Just enjoy and be happy with the moment.

3. Do not get carried away by your emotions; when overwhelmed, do something that will help you improve on a skill, increase your knowledge, or develop as a person. Something you will not regret.
